FAQs

Schedule a free 15 minute consultation. We’ll talk briefly about what brings you to therapy, what you’re looking for, and whether working together feels like a good fit. You can ask questions before deciding to schedule a first session.
-
We’ll spend time getting to know you, discussing what’s happening in your life, and talking about what you hope to get from therapy. You don’t need to tell your whole story in one appointment. We’ll decide together where to begin.
-
Many people begin with weekly or every-other-week sessions. We’ll discuss a frequency that makes sense for your goals, availability, and budget, and revisit it as your needs change.
-
No. You may be navigating a clear concern, such as anxiety or depression, or trying to make sense of a relationship, caregiving role, loss, or life change. We can start with what you’re experiencing, even if you aren’t sure how to name it.
The first few sessions are mutual. You're getting a sense of me, and I'm getting a sense of you. There's no pressure to commit to anything before we both feel it's a good fit.

Individual sessions are approximately 50 minutes. I offer in-person appointments in Littleton, telehealth throughout Colorado, and in-home sessions within a limited service area. Equine facilitated therapy takes place at Zuma’s Rescue Ranch.
-
Typically once or twice a week, depending on what you're working on and what feels sustainable. We'll talk through what makes sense when we meet.
-
In-home sessions can make therapy more accessible for older adults, people with mobility or transportation barriers, and caregivers. We’ll need a reasonably private place where we can talk without interruption. Contact me with your location to confirm whether an in-home appointment is available in your area.

For therapy through Summit Point Counseling, you’ll need to be physically located in Colorado at the time of your telehealth appointment. If you have travel planned, let me know so we can discuss scheduling.
-
No. It is mental health therapy that incorporates experiences with horses. Sessions take place on the ground at Zuma’s Rescue Ranch, and no riding or horse experience is required. You can read more on the Equine Facilitated Therapy page.
-
Summit Point Counseling is a private pay practice, so I don’t bill insurance directly. I chose this approach because it gives us more flexibility to decide what to focus on, how often to meet, and what kind of support fits your life, without needing approval from an insurance plan.

Life happens and unexpected things come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may be charged the full session fee. We’ll review the full policy before your first session

Your privacy matters. Therapy is confidential within the limits of applicable law, which may include safety concerns, required reports of abuse or neglect, and certain legal requests. We’ll review confidentiality and its limits together before beginning therapy.
